Alpha Flight #33 features the first cameo appearance of Lady Deathstrike, the cybernetically enhanced assassin with adamantium claws who becomes one of Wolverine's deadliest foes. A key Bronze Age issue from the height of the X-Men era.

Northstar is Jean-Paul Beaubier, a French-Canadian mutant speedster and one of the founding members of Canada's Alpha Flight. Northstar is best known as one of the first openly gay characters in mainstream superhero comics — coming out explicitly in 1992 in Alpha Flight #106, a landmark moment in comics history. He later married his partner Kyle Jinadu in Astonishing X-Men #51, one of the first same-sex marriages in superhero comics.
