S.H.I.E.L.D. (Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division) is Marvel's premier intelligence and law enforcement agency, founded to protect the world from extraordinary threats. Led for decades by Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D. operates the Helicarrier and employs agents including Black Widow, Hawkeye, Maria Hill, and Phil Coulson. The organization is central to the MCU and dozens of Marvel storylines.
