Rogue, born Anna Marie, is a mutant with the involuntary power to absorb the memories, personality, and abilities of anyone she touches — a curse that leaves her permanently isolated from human contact. She debuted as a villain, permanently absorbing the powers of Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), before finding her place with the X-Men. Her tragic inability to touch and her turbulent romance with Gambit made her one of the most emotionally compelling X-Men of the 1980s and 90s.
