Eddie Brock is the man who was Venom — a disgraced journalist whose career was destroyed when Spider-Man exposed his story as a hoax. His hatred of Peter Parker made him the perfect host for the alien symbiote that had bonded with Spider-Man, creating Venom. Over time, Eddie's relationship with the symbiote evolved from instrument of revenge to something more complex, eventually leading him to periods of heroism as Venom and Anti-Venom, and ultimately to a role as the Lethal Protector.
