Todd McFarlane's Spider-Man ongoing from 1990 was a sensation — McFarlane's kinetic, web-heavy art style on his own title was unlike anything in mainstream comics at the time. The early issues featuring Wolverine and the Lizard are highlights. The series helped launch the collector's market boom of the early 1990s. Best appreciated as a showcase for McFarlane's distinctive visual style before he departed to form Image Comics.
