Beast, born Henry "Hank" McCoy, is one of the original five X-Men — a brilliant biochemist whose mutant physiology gives him superhuman strength, agility, and reflexes. Initially born with oversized hands and feet, a secondary mutation later gave him blue fur and a leonine appearance. Beast is the intellectual heart of the X-Men, equally at home in the lab or in battle, and has been a key member of both the Avengers and the Defenders.
